If you don't have a cat, it's high time you got one. There are many reasons for this. Some of the vital ones are ...
- Cats is the good-lookingest animals in the world
- Cats purr
- Cats reciprocate well towards your amicability
- Cats don't bark
- Cats can climb (whereas dogs cannot)
There are three ways you can get one. Let us examine the easiest and least embarrassing method.
Of course there is a small amount of danger involved in this method. It's just that you need to walk into all the nooks and crannies in the vicinity of your residence looking out for stray cats.
When you spot one or more, note his/their behavior patterns. Some of them are timid to such an extent that even if you whistle, they make a bolt.
You need to be armed with a some KFC leftovers as bait. Take the food along in a paper bag and try to attract their attention with it. With luck one of them will fall for it and gain confidence in you.
Let him eat the first tidbit. Then you could lure him home with another. Of course half way through if he loses interest and turns away, all you need to do is pick him up and run like hell for home.
Here there is a danger of your arm suffering an injury. With extended claws, he might try a swipe [a branded swipe] in order to brake free. This is where your bravery and endurance comes in handy.
Assuming that you have succeeded in bringing him home, you now need to keep him. Feeding him is just the impetus he will need in order to stay. Being inside your premises for a couple of days he will find the coziest spot for himself.
Until such time a cardboard box laced with a towel that you are about to discard would be fine. You've got to raise him and place him in there and stroke him a little until he starts purring. He will eventually adjust and make himself at home. No worries about that.
The second method is, tell your grocery vendor that you are looking for a cat. The vendor in your area obviously knows more people than you do. So he will pass the word around and someone might approach you with an offer of a kitten. More often it's kittens that people offer to others.
Giving away a fully grown cat, or even accepting one would be unwise, as quite often they find their way back to 'headquarters' within twenty four hours of the location change!
The third method is to tell the policeman who is assigned to night duty in your area about your interest. These guys are always on the lookout for movement in any form in every nook and cranny after dark in the areas that they patrol! ... And so ... so my friends ... I shall leave to you to figure out the rest!
